It starts with you
Sometimes it’s hard to find words for our emotions. Arts psychotherapy offers children and adults of all ages and abilities a creative alternative to traditional counselling.
Real Connections combines the therapeutic powers of creative expressions (visual art, nature, music, movement, drama and play) with counselling and psychotherapy, tapping into the subconscious in ways that are more difficult to reach via traditional methods of counselling.
Real Connections Art Therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals, groups and families to explore creative processes while applying psychological theory and lived experiences within a therapeutic relationship.
Begin your journey towards personal growth, self-healing, awareness and connection.
With options that include individual sessions, couples, family, group therapy, and even a unique team-building experience for the workplace, Real Connections Art Therapy’s person-centred approach will tap into your five senses, bringing about clarity and a new awareness of your own world.
Group Art Therapy Workshops
Running over 6-8-weeks, these programs are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for members to explore their personal goals and challenges.
Corporate Team Building
With sessions ranging from 3 hours to a full day, creative team building workshops can be tailored to the specific requirements and goals of the organisation.
Soraya’s journey to becoming an Arts Psychotherapist evolved from her professional background in the corporate world where she developed and owned small businesses and later forged a successful career in not-for-profit community-based organisations in the art world.
During her time supporting artists and students, Soraya gained a first-hand understanding of the power of creative expression, along with the positive impacts it can have on mental health and wellbeing. She also had the opportunity to support different group populations with mental health challenges in a hospital setting. These included women's groups, along with clients who suffered from depression, mood disorders, anxiety and addictive behaviours.
Through Soraya’s own love of creativity and art as a means of expression and understanding herself, art psychotherapy was a natural progression that has brought together her business and artistic skills.
Soraya provides “lived-experienced” and teaches how the power of art and creativity can help people explore pathways and find answers to unlock their full potential and overcome the mental blocks that are holding them back.
Her goal is to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for clients to explore their inner world.
